MARCH 2010
F.Y.I.

It is that time of the year when we have a lot of tourists and locals hanging out around our fish cleaning table and on the decks in the evening. We hope to make it a good experience for everyone so that they will remember us and want to come back either for a charter, to eat at Grills or just to bring out of town guests to see the fish. This is great advertisement for all of us. However, it could quickly turn to bad advertisement if problem situations are not handled correctly. Please keep this in mind. If you have any problems at the fish cleaning table, please notify the marina.

FISH SCALE

The fish scale has been recertified and ready to go.

ON THE DOCKS

To help maintain some security. Please let the marina know if you have a charter that wants to catch baitfish the night before or a friend who is fishing with you on the docks. Anyone who may be down there fishing that does not have permission, will be asked to leave. This includes people that “hang out” around here all the time.

FISHING FORECAST
Spring is here and it is
“TIME TO GO FISHING!”

The Cobia are coming. Look for 68 – 70 degree water temperatures. These incredible fish can be found free swimming, circling large bait pods or following manta rays.

Black drum can be found around deepwater bridges.

Bottom fishing has been incredible. If you are up for a some catch and release the red snapper and grouper bite on the Ocean
Obsession has been great.

Trigger fish have been abundant. Don’t be fooled by their comical looks; these are fun fish to catch and great to eat. Triggerfish have sharp teeth and powerful jaws that are used to crush the hard shells of crabs and mollusks.

As usual, in springtime Kingfish, tarpon and tripletail can be found close to shore and at the buoy line.

GRILLS RIVERSIDE
(Check out the Sunrise Photo Gallery for the latest Aerial Shot)
Expected opening time is now April 2010. We have received our permit to install floating docks for those of you who want to come by boat. Hopefully the docks will be ready when Grills Riverside opens! Keep your fingers crossed.

HAPPY FISHING

Thank you again for your patronage.
I know you are as ready for warm weather, fishing and some good times on the deck as we are. See you soon.

Robin and the rest of the crew

FIGHT FISHERIES CLOSURES
Federal fisheries managers are currently considering options to close the entire South Atlantic to all bottom fishing from 95' on out for up to 35 years.

A group of fisherman are going to Washington D.C. on Feb 24 to ask for more flexible wording on the Magnusen Stevens Act. Several from Sunrise Marina are flying to Washington and back on the same day.

The Magnuson-Stevens Reauthorization Act of 2007 requires that fisheries managers enact management plans to end overfishing by 2010. It also instructed them to improve the quality and accuracy of the Marine Recreational Fisheries Statistics Surveys (MRFSS) by Jan. 1 2009. Fisheries managers have failed to meet the Congressional mandate to improve the fatally flawed MRFSS system, but have decided to enact unnecessary closures based on fatally flawed science.

HATLEY'S ELECTRONICS LIQUIDATION
FEBRUARY 4TH, 5TH AND 6TH
We recently lost a dear friend to cancer. Don Hatley ran Hatley's Marine and Electronics on SR 520 in Cocoa for decades. The family will be holding an estate sale at the store on February 4th, 5th, and 6th. There are tons of new electronics, older electronics, and antique electronics, antique radios, large and small tools, generators, welders, milling machine, lathe, marine hardware, fishing equipment and thousands of things that Don and his dad had collected for years. The displays, shelving, furniture and the building itself are also for sale. The building is currently listed on MLS at a very reasonable price.

The store is located 1 block west of US 1 on the north side of State Rd. 520 in Cocoa.

Summary of Snapper Grouper Closures
South Atlantic Snapper-Grouper: Important Rules to Know!

Amendment 15 B
NOAA Fisheries Service published the final rule for Amendment 15B to the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic region on November 16, 2009. This final rule will:

• Prohibit the sale of snapper-grouper harvested under the bag limits unless the vessel owner has been issued a Federal Commercial Snapper-Grouper Permit
• Implement a bycatch monitoring program, which requires any vessel (commercial or recreational)
that fishes for snapper-grouper in the exclusive economic zone, if selected by NOAA Fisheries
Service, to carry an observer and install an electronic logbook and/or video monitoring system.

Amendment 16
NOAA Fisheries Service published a final rule implementing Amendment 16 to the Fishery
Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region. The final rule:
• Establishes a January-April prohibition on recreational and commercial harvest of shallow water grouper species including gag, black grouper, red grouper, scamp, rock hind, red hind, coney, graysby, yellowfin grouper, yellowmouth grouper, and tiger grouper.
• Establishes a November-March prohibition on recreational harvest of vermilion snapper.
• Establishes reductions in recreational bag limits for vermilion snapper, gag, black grouper,
and the grouper aggregate.
• Implements a requirement for the commercial and recreational sectors to use dehooking tools
when necessary.

For a person on board a vessel for which a federal commercial or for-hire (charter vessel / headboat) permit for the South Atlantic snapper-grouper fishery has been issued, the provisions of the closures for shallow water grouper species will apply regardless of whether the fish are harvested in state or federal waters. Captain and crew on for-hire vessels would be prohibited from retaining vermilion snapper or any species in the grouper aggregate.

Interim Rule on Red Snapper

NOAA Fisheries Service published a final rule implementing interim measures to reduce overfishing of red snapper in the South Atlantic. The final rule published in the Federal Register on December 4, 2009, and becomes effective January 4, 2010 (74 FR 63673). The interim rule will be effective until June 2, 2010, and could be extended for another 186-day period.

The final rule establishes a prohibition on recreational and commercial harvest of red snapper for 180 days in federal waters off Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina. However, provisions specified in the interim rule would also apply to a person on board a vessel for which a federal commercial or charter/headboat permit for the South Atlantic snapper-grouper fishery has been issued, regardless of whether the fish are harvested or possessed in state or federal waters.

What to look forward to in late 2010
Amendment 17B
Nine of the 10 species currently listed as undergoing overfishing in the South Atlantic will be addressed through management measures outlined in Amendment 17B to the Snapper Grouper Fishery Management Plan. Among the measures is a deepwater closure to help protect warsaw grouper and speckled hind, two deepwater species extremely vulnerable to overfishing. The closure will also help protect other deepwater species where release mortality is estimated at 100% for the multi-species fishery.
If approved, the closure will affect federal waters in the South Atlantic region from approximately 240 feet deep seaward and prohibit fishing for or possession of speckled hind, and warsaw grouper, as well as snowy grouper, blueline tilefish.
The amendment (17B) will be forwarded to NOAA Fisheries Service for review and approval by the Secretary of Commerce. If approved, regulations may be implemented by late 2010.
Amendment 17A
Amendment 17A includes a provision to extend the red snapper closure plus alternatives for large closed areas where fishing for all snapper grouper species would be prohibited to address the high mortality associated with discards. The Council chose a preferred alternative for a closure encompassing a depth of 98 feet to 300 feet beginning just north of Charleston, SC and extending slightly southward of Melbourne, FL.
The Council has requested that an updated assessment for the South Atlantic red snapper stock be available for review by its Scientific and Statistical Committee in late 2010, before management measures proposed in Amendment 17A would be implemented.
The next meeting of the Council is scheduled for March 1-5, 2010 in Jekyll Island, GA. For additional information regarding Council meetings, including briefing book materials and summary motions, visit www.safmc.net or contact the Council office.

If you do not like what is happening to our fisheries, please contact your Congressional leaders and voice your concerns.

Rags, plastics and other trash mixed in with oil filters will not be accepted. Oil only may be dumped in the oil tank. If water or other contaminants are mixed in, they will not accept it.

Please help us keep this area clean.

Please turn the water off when you are finished each day. Leaving the water on will cause the hoses to bust and leak. Thank you.

Trolling offshore can be very sporadic with a mixture of sail, dolphin and wahoo still possible.

Bottom fishing will range from good to terrible depending on the bottom water temperature which can plummet to the 40's for a brief time. Inshore, tripletail, tarpon, snook and flounder will continue to be good.

Last but not least, the favorite of all the fishermen, there are still a few cobia hanging around.

July is Sunrise Marina’s month long King Fish Tournament. Keep an eye on the Leader Board at the front of the tackle store to see who is in the lead.

FISHING FORECAST

With a windy May behind us, June has been a great month of fishing. The Sunrise Fleet, amateurs and pros have all been bringing in the fish. You name the species we have seen them in June!

JULY IS KING! King mackerel, for those using live menhaden (pogies), can be spectacular. These 15 - 40 lb. toothed rockets can be found everywhere including inside Port Canaveral, the beaches, 8A reef and Pelican flats. Offshore trolling action for dolphin and wahoo can be hot, or not, on any given day. Bottom fishing can be great in the 240 ft. area if the current and the bottom water temperature cooperate.

The flounder bite has been incredible. The tackle store is keeping a good supply of mud minnows (flounder candy). We also have small pin fish and large pin fish.

HAPPY ENDINGS

Grills and Sunrise Marina have a great selection of T-shirts and Tank tops. Check them out when you are cooling off with a refreshing drink after a hot day of fishing.

FISHING FORECAST

Mother nature put an abrupt halt to our Cobia Fishing. But it’s time to think about the next big catch. Dolphin, Dolphin, Dolphin. If you’re an offshore troller you can’t help but lose sleep over the potential May has for some unbelievable Dolphin fishing. These colorful, aggressive game fish are some of the most sought after fish on the East coast. Boats trolling ballyhoo along color changes and weed lines are most likely to score with these spectacular fish. Wahoo and Sails are also a strong bet. Inshore, snook fishing will be superb as the water temperatures continue to warm. Bluefish, flounder and tripletail will still be a good bet.

HAPPY ENDINGS

If you want a break from catching your own fish, let Grills do the work for you!! Fresh fish daily, just like you like it!

See you on the docks,
Robin and the rest of the Sunrise Crew

APRIL 2009
IMPORTANT: RED SNAPPER CLOSURE
Some of you have heard or read about the Snapper Closure. The week of March 2nd, the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council voted 7 to 6 to pass an interim rule to close the Red Snapper fishery in federal waters for 180 days to both recreational and commercial fishermen with a possible 186 day extension.

We feel the implementation of this “temporary” closure is un-warranted and does not reflect the healthy and plentiful abundance of these fish. The council has admitted that their data is insufficient.

This comes at a time when we are already in a severe and worsening economic crisis. The ramifications are far reaching; hotels, restaurants, general retail and convenience, just to name a few.

If you would like your voice to be heard concerning this issue our only hope is to impress upon our Senators, Bill Nelson(Dem) (Fax:407-872-7165) and Mel Martinez(Rep) (Fax: 407-423-0941) what an economic impact this will be.

RACK STORAGE CUSTOMERS
It’s that time of year again!
When loading and unloading please be aware of the forklift movement. Do not block the driveways.

If you park in the storage bay or are in the back yard, you must stay with your vehicle. Do not park your vehicle and leave it!

When working in the back yard. Please read the rules. If you are working on your boat in the back yard, it is your responsibility to make sure that only your vehicle is in that yard and anyone else who is helping parks their vehicle in the designated parking areas.

SUNRISE MONTH LONG TOURNAMENTS

Are you watching the leader board? We have had a lot of Fun with the Cobia Madness Tournament. It’s not over yet!

Dophin In May, Register by April 30TH
Kingfish In July, Register by June 30TH

Don’t let everyone else have all the fun. Registration is only $25. All monies given over the total payout will be donated to charity.

Let us put your name on the leader board!

FISHING FORECAST

Although sometimes plagued by strong winds, April should begin our calm weather and great trolling months. Triple tail will be moving in on the buoys. Some of the biggest kingfish of the year are caught in waters outside Port Canaveral in the spring. Live baiting for king fish on pelican flats and 8A should start to pick up. Trolling for dolphin, wahoo and sails will start to take off, while bottom fishing may slow some, but can still be excellent. Snook, bluefish, flounder and pompano can be excellent in the port and nearby beaches.

HAPPY ENDINGS
What more can we say? We all have Spring Fever and its worse than the Flu going around. Can you feel it? Grills and Sunrise can provide you with a great vaccination for that fever! F.Y.I.
FISH CLEANING TABLE: If you are having problems with people who are asking you for fish carcasses, please notify the marina. Last year we tried to prevent people from taking the fish carcasses completely, but a lot of you like to give them away. This is fine as long as they are not creating a problem. It would be preferable if you would ask them to bring garbage bags to put them in and take them home to clean. I know that giving the carcasses away, helps us out with the trash in the water, but if it is causing problems with other customers who are here, we need to know. Let the marina handle it so that we do not have any embarrassing or harmful situations on the deck. This includes people taking up the fish cleaning space to clean the carcasses while captains are waiting for available space to clean their fish.

FISH SCALE

We partnered with the FSFA to maintain the digital scale and become an Official IGFA Weigh Station. The IGFA World Record Game Fishes Book available for anyone who is interested. If the scale is not hanging, all you need to do is ask.

ON THE DOCKS
The Port Authority are enforcing the security rules on the docks. Remember that these rules come down from FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement). If you are on the docks at night without a security badge you will be ask to leave by the Port Security.

FISHING FORECAST

Spring is here and it is
“TIME TO GO FISHING!”

COBIA MADNESS: Sunrise Marina is sponsoring a Cobia Tournament for the Month of March. Come by the Marina to see the Leader Board.

Cobia are coming. We have seen a few on the fish hang board in February. The month of March off Port Canaveral can be your Cobia Heaven. Look for surface temperature of 69 to 70 degrees. These incredible fish can be found free swimming or circling large bait pods between Canaveral and Patrick AFB.

Sunrise Marina has EELS (Cobia Candy) in stock now. Get them while their hot!

Bottom fishing has been outstanding recently and should continue through March. The 27 fathom reefs and deeper can see large congregations of grey grouper and red snapper.

GRILLS

The season is upon us! We are gearing up for the beautiful weather, great food, good music and lots of fun!

HAPPY ENDINGS
Thank you again for your patronage.
Good fishing!

MARINA STORE

We are staying on top of the sardines and trying different brands. What we have are the best that can be found at this time. Like last year, we do have cigar minnows and we are carrying other frozen bait, such as goggle eyes and thread herring to offer you as much variety as possible. We are also carrying different sizes of squid including jumbo and rigged. If you want something special, please talk with Bonnie, she will be glad to order anything for you. Please plan ahead and allow 7 to 10 days due to order and delivery days from the suppliers.

Parking (AGAIN)

DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CARS PARKED INSIDE THE BAY UNLESS YOU ARE AT YOUR BOAT. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE WAITING TO GET THEIR BOATS PUT IN OR SET ON THEIR RACK, OR WE MAY NEED TO PUT BOATS AWAY SO THAT WE CAN ACCOMMODATE THE NEXT BOAT TO COME OUT OF THE WATER. IT IS DIFFICULT ENOUGH WITH THE NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS AND CARS THAT WE NOW HAVE. IF I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE CAR OR CAN NOT FIND THE OWNER, WE WILL CALL THE TOWING COMPANY. THE COST WILL BE BILLED TO YOU ONCE THE COMPANY HAS BEEN CALLED.

GRILLS

Have you been to Grills lately? The new windscreens are great. With the windscreens and the patio heaters, the Tiki Bar is downright cozy on the cooler nights. Check it out!

As always, Grills offers the freshest fish in town and great steaks too! (One of my favorites) Don’t forget to save room for dessert; you will be happy you did!

FISHING FORECAST

Cobia: Get ready, you know they are coming. A lot of shorts have been spotted. The marina carries all of your favorite Cobia Jigs.

Off Shore: Bottom fishing can be awesome! Large numbers of grouper, snapper and cobia can be expected either on the inshore waters or perhaps even early spawn of grouper on 27 fathoms. Surprisingly enough, February can be one of our best months for wahoo. When the conditions get right (calm seas and warm days) wahoo will congregate in large numbers on 27 fathoms. Ballyhoo behind sea-witches or high speed lures will produce the best results.

In the Port: Fishing can be excellent for flounder, bluefish, weakfish and possibly even a pompano

River: The dead of winter generally means steady action with trout and redfish. If the water is near or above the 70 degree mark, look for trout and reds to be frequenting shallow water habitats such as grass flats, mangrove shorelines and shallow docks, especially late in the day. If the water is in the lower 60s, look for small and medium sized trout in deeper water. When the water temperatures are falling the fish are seeking areas where they can be comfortable. For this reason cold weather often moves the fish to deep water holes, canals, or to areas characterized by warm water discharges such as occur at power plants.

Beach: The Pompano are biting. I have reports that Pompano are being caught off the beach, the Jetty and the Pier. Spots are being found off the beach. If you can catch the spots, use them for the snook.
Remember: Snook season opens February 1st!

HAPPY ENDINGS

Hope everyone has had a good start to the New Year. Hopefully this spring brings the best of what we all love: great weather & great fishing. We are looking forward to a great year and are as always grateful for your support.

January 2009
Clarification on Grouper Regulations for South Atlantic Federal Waters

On December 19, 2008, NOAA Fisheries Service notified the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (South Atlantic Council) of its decision not to implement an interim rule proposed to address overfishing of South Atlantic gag, red grouper, and black grouper. Therefore, the current South Atlantic grouper regulations remain unchanged. The South Atlantic Council intended for the interim rule to be in effect January 1, 2009, until replaced by long term measures proposed through Amendment 16 to the Snapper-Grouper Fishery Management Plan (Amendment 16). Procedural requirements delayed the potential publication of this interim rule substantially beyond the requested effective date of January 1, 2009.

NOAA Fisheries Service determined the limited
conservation benefits gained by implementing the South Atlantic interim rule behind schedule do not justify the costs fishermen would incur while awaiting a final decision on the rule. The Council’s long-term plan for addressing overfishing and protecting spawning grouper species in Amendment 16 is undergoing Secretarial review. A notice will publish in the Federal Register this week announcing the opportunity for public comment on Amendment 16.

Please contact NOAA Fisheries Service Office of
Sustainable Fisheries for a copy of Amendment 16 or for information on how to comment on the amendment and associated rule during the review process at:

FISHING FORECAST

JANUARY IS HERE!! Bottom fishing will be at its peak when conditions allow. Look for large numbers of grouper, snapper and cobia to invade the wrecks and reefs in the 70 - 140 ft. depths. King mackerel will also continue to be concentrated on Pelican Flats when water conditions are favorable. Blackfin Tuna are very good if you can find the rock shrimp boats working 160 - 180 ft. depths. Harbor fishing should be excellent for bluefish, weakfish (sea trout) and Pompano as the water temperature drops. The buoy line can still hold cobia and tripletail if the water temperature doesn't drop too low. Please let us know of any exceptional catches so that we can mention it in the next newsletter. As always, feel free to call for any fishing updates or weather reports!

NEW YEARS AT GRILLS

Avoid the crowded, smoke filled, stuffy, typical New Years Night. Enjoy why we live in Florida. (Waterside, casual and outdoors)!

We will have live entertainment, champagne, and a lot of those goofy hats and noise makers. Best of all--- NO COVER CHARGE!

Robin and the entire crew!

***Where ever your plans take you on New Years Eve, please remember to be safe!

November 2008
ENOUGH ALREADY!

Ok, enough already! High fuel prices, a storm in August, September wasn’t great and October has definitely been a blow out! So, what will November bring? People, fishing, I’ll take anything at this point! Mother Nature has certainly been in a foul mood!

Take heart. This bad weather can’t continue, can it?

Fuel prices are dropping and if we are lucky they will continue to drop or at least hold steady. The drop in fuel prices alone is enough to make you want to go out and celebrate. Now that you have all that extra money you won’t have to spend on gas, let’s go fishing!

GROUPER AMENDMENT 16

For those of you who don’t know……………. Amendment 16 will close Grouper season from January through April and bag limits will be reduced from 5 to 3 (January 1st, 2009). With this being said, November and December can be great bottom fishing. That’s assuming that Mother Nature decides to be kind to us.

NEW HOURS

Winter Store Hours starting September 29th: 7 Days a Week: 6 am to 9 pm.

Due to limited daylight hours, our forklift hours will be from 6 am - 6 pm. Please be sure to be at the dock no later than 6 pm as it makes it very difficult to put your boat away safely. If for some reason you are running late, please be sure to call the marina on VHF ch.16 so we know that you are okay.

I would like to remind everyone that this is the transient season and our docks will be reserved most nights. If you are a rack storage customer and you are coming in late, please let the marina know so that arrangements can be made of where you need to park your boat.

FISHING FORECAST

November can be the start of the bottom fishing bonanza! Grouper, Snapper and Cobia near the end of the month. Cobia will start to invade the wrecks and reefs off of our coast. November also kicks off our winter run of Kingfish for those who prefer to troll. Wahoo and Sailfish can be found in good concentrations as well. Around the shrimp boats, the Blackfin Tuna can be tricked by either chumming or trolling. Inshore, Snook will be red hot until the water cools below 72 degrees. Flounder and Bluefish still remain strong.

GRILLS

The high winds and seas have kept us from going fishing, however, we have had some perfect days for relaxing at the Tiki Bar. This is a great time to enjoy the beautiful weather, a great fish sandwich and your favorite beverage. Stop by and say hello to your favorite bartenders and wait staff.

Happy Thanksgiving,
Robin and the Sunrise Crew!

F.Y.I.

Summer is coming to an end. September is always the month that it hits home. The kids go back to school, vacationers go back home and the snow birds aren’t here yet.
We know it is coming every year and still we are disappointed when it gets here. For all of us, September is maintenance time. Time to clean up and put on a fresh face after a hectic summer.

FISHING FORECAST

BLACKFIN TUNA!! (Maybe!) Throughout September and October, large numbers of these spectacular black and gold Game fish can be found, usually in the vicinity of anchored rock shrimp boats. The problem is that there just aren’t enough rock shrimp to keep the fleet here very long. If you do happen to see a shrimp boat anchored in 140 to 180 feet of water check it out, It can be a bonanza! Be on the look out for sails and Wahoo as well.

Grills

Who wants to sit in a stuffy bar to watch your favorite team play. For the football fans, Grills now has a large screen TV inside the restaurant and for Monday night football we have permanently mounted the projection screen in the tiki bar area. What more could you ask for….football, cold beer, great food and atmosphere! You got to love it, where else but Grills?!

HAPPY ENDINGS

Thanks again for the great summer! With a little help from Mother Nature, some clean water, good weather and booked Charters, I hope we all have an awesome fall.

Safe boating and fishing!
Robin, and the Sunrise Crew

SEPTEMBER 2008
F.Y.I.

Most of us got a little reminder of what tropical storms are like yesterday. It was a busy day here at the marina keeping an eye on docks and dock lines as Fay made a sluggish path toward the east coast. The sustained winds kept everyone hopping and re-securing lines.

Please remember that hurricane season is not over until November 30th. Make sure we have all your current phone numbers on file including your work number and be ready to remove all loose items from your vessel, including canvas. If we need to get ready for a hurricane, all help is appreciated in securing all the vessels.

I recommend that you have plenty of line ready just in case.

MARINA

As I am writing this a lot of you are getting ready to finish off this tournament season with the Canaveral Mac Attack. This two day tournament and Labor Day weekend will finish our season off with a bang. Then it’s time to take care of maintenance. Boats, motors, rods and tackle……..lots to be done.

We only charge 10% over cost on any items that we special order. We will be glad to help you with that hard to find item.

FISHING FORECAST

Blackfin Tuna will become one of the main focuses in September with anglers scoring catches behind shrimp boats in 120 to 180 feet of water. Chumming with Spanish sardines, will reward those who are able to trick these crafty fish. Always keep an open eye for species such as Cobia, Dolphin or Wahoo, which often come up for a meal.

If the pogies are around through the fall, those live baiting over reefs and wrecks can continue to look forward to catching Kings and Cobia with an occasional Dolphin, Sailfish or Wahoo mixed in.

With any luck, bottom fishing will pick up with the disappearance of cold, dirty water that often blankets the bottom during summer months.

September 1st is the long anticipated date for Snook anglers. Expect excellent catches around lighted structures at night in the port and in the surf at daybreak.

GRILLS Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar

It’s been another crazy season at Grills. For those of you who can’t handle the wait, it is a much slower time of year for the next couple of months. So check it out …breakfast, lunch or dinner. We’d like to thank everyone for the incredible support and word of mouth advertising!

HAPPY ENDINGS

Well, that was a fast summer! Hope everyone had a chance to make the most of it. Fall can provide some fantastic fishing so don’t put the gear away yet. Thanks for your business..

AUGUST 2008
Ocean Obsession II

Are you tired of cleaning your boat and tackle after a long hot day of fishing? Wouldn’t it be nice to let someone else fuel up the boat, get it ready and do all the cleaning when you’re done? Do you dream of kicking back, drinking a cold beverage while someone else cleans the fish?

Well, we here at Sunrise Marina have the answer for you. Take a ride on the Ocean Obsession II. Fishing has picked back up and I can tell you from experience, a ride on the party boat is a relaxing fun day. Between the mates and the other passengers there is always entertainment to keep you smiling and you can catch fish too.

The OOII as we call it, does full day fishing trips, leaving the dock at 8 am and returning at 5 pm. You can purchase a meal ticket for a full breakfast and lunch or bring your own cooler.

We also offer night time shark trips on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Another great way to enjoy letting someone else do the work. Not to mention OOII has a cool new T-shirt to commemorate the Shark Trip. Looking for something to do with the kids before they go back to school? This is the trip and they will love the T- Shirt.

FYI

DITTO... Our tropical storm season has been extremely quiet but please remember, that can change very quickly. Please have an evacuation plan ready as the Port Authority will require all vessels to leave the Port at 36 hours from a possible strike.
FISHING FORECAST

For the divers, Lobster season starts August 6th.

As you well know, SMOKERS ARE HERE!! August is prime-time for these large, hungry, aerobatic kings, termed, SMOKERS (term derived from cooking process, not necessarily what they do to a reel!!) The key to success is netting live menhaden (pogies), a feat sometimes much more difficult than catching the kings. That’s part of the whole fishing experience (RIGHT?).

Elsewhere, trolling offshore can be very sporadic with a mixture of sail, dolphin, and wahoo still possible.

Bottom fishing will range from good to terrible depending on the bottom water temperature which can plummet to the 40's for a brief time. Inshore, tripletail, tarpon, snook and flounder will continue to be good.

GRILLS Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar

As usual Grills is hopping with entertainment and fun. After you get the fish and boat cleaned, stop by, say hello, have a drink, relax and enjoy.

HAPPY ENDINGS

See you on the docks!
Robin, and the rest of the Crew!
