July is Sunrise Marina’s month long King Fish Tournament. Keep an eye on the Leader Board at the front of the tackle store to see who is in the lead.
FISHING FORECAST
With a windy May behind us, June has been a great month of fishing. The Sunrise Fleet, amateurs and pros have all been bringing in the fish. You name the species we have seen them in June!
JULY IS KING! King mackerel, for those using live menhaden (pogies), can be spectacular. These 15 - 40 lb. toothed rockets can be found everywhere including inside Port Canaveral, the beaches, 8A reef and Pelican flats. Offshore trolling action for dolphin and wahoo can be hot, or not, on any given day. Bottom fishing can be great in the 240 ft. area if the current and the bottom water temperature cooperate.
The flounder bite has been incredible. The tackle store is keeping a good supply of mud minnows (flounder candy). We also have small pin fish and large pin fish.
HAPPY ENDINGS
Grills and Sunrise Marina have a great selection of T-shirts and Tank tops. Check them out when you are cooling off with a refreshing drink after a hot day of fishing.
IT ALL GOOD AT GRILLS and IT ALL HAPPENS AT SUNRISE MARINA! So don’t miss the action!
Thanks again

FISHING FORECAST
Mother nature put an abrupt halt to our Cobia Fishing. But it’s time to think about the next big catch. Dolphin, Dolphin, Dolphin. If you’re an offshore troller you can’t help but lose sleep over the potential May has for some unbelievable Dolphin fishing. These colorful, aggressive game fish are some of the most sought after fish on the East coast. Boats trolling ballyhoo along color changes and weed lines are most likely to score with these spectacular fish. Wahoo and Sails are also a strong bet. Inshore, snook fishing will be superb as the water temperatures continue to warm. Bluefish, flounder and tripletail will still be a good bet.
HAPPY ENDINGS
If you want a break from catching your own fish, let Grills do the work for you!! Fresh fish daily, just like you like it!
See you on the docks,

IMPORTANT: RED SNAPPER CLOSURE
Some of you have heard or read about the Snapper Closure. The week of March 2nd, the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council voted 7 to 6 to pass an interim rule to close the Red Snapper fishery in federal waters for 180 days to both recreational and commercial fishermen with a possible 186 day extension.
We feel the implementation of this “temporary” closure is un-warranted and does not reflect the healthy and plentiful abundance of these fish. The council has admitted that their data is insufficient.
This comes at a time when we are already in a severe and worsening economic crisis. The ramifications are far reaching; hotels, restaurants, general retail and convenience, just to name a few.
If you would like your voice to be heard concerning this issue our only hope is to impress upon our Senators, Bill Nelson(Dem) (Fax:407-872-7165) and Mel Martinez(Rep) (Fax: 407-423-0941) what an economic impact this will be.
RACK STORAGE CUSTOMERS
It’s that time of year again!
When loading and unloading please be aware of the forklift movement. Do not block the driveways.
If you park in the storage bay or are in the back yard, you must stay with your vehicle. Do not park your vehicle and leave it!
When working in the back yard. Please read the rules. If you are working on your boat in the back yard, it is your responsibility to make sure that only your vehicle is in that yard and anyone else who is helping parks their vehicle in the designated parking areas.
SUNRISE MONTH LONG TOURNAMENTS
Are you watching the leader board? We have had a lot of Fun with the Cobia Madness Tournament. It’s not over yet!
Dophin In May, Register by April 30TH
Kingfish In July, Register by June 30TH
Don’t let everyone else have all the fun. Registration is only $25. All monies given over the total payout will be donated to charity.
Let us put your name on the leader board!
FISHING FORECAST
Although sometimes plagued by strong winds, April should begin our calm weather and great trolling months. Triple tail will be moving in on the buoys. Some of the biggest kingfish of the year are caught in waters outside Port Canaveral in the spring. Live baiting for king fish on pelican flats and 8A should start to pick up. Trolling for dolphin, wahoo and sails will start to take off, while bottom fishing may slow some, but can still be excellent. Snook, bluefish, flounder and pompano can be excellent in the port and nearby beaches.
HAPPY ENDINGS
What more can we say? We all have Spring Fever and its worse than the Flu going around. Can you feel it? Grills and Sunrise can provide you with a great vaccination for that fever! F.Y.I.
FISH CLEANING TABLE: If you are having problems with people who are asking you for fish carcasses, please notify the marina. Last year we tried to prevent people from taking the fish carcasses completely, but a lot of you like to give them away. This is fine as long as they are not creating a problem. It would be preferable if you would ask them to bring garbage bags to put them in and take them home to clean. I know that giving the carcasses away, helps us out with the trash in the water, but if it is causing problems with other customers who are here, we need to know. Let the marina handle it so that we do not have any embarrassing or harmful situations on the deck. This includes people taking up the fish cleaning space to clean the carcasses while captains are waiting for available space to clean their fish.
It is that time of the year when we have a lot of tourists and locals hanging out around our fish cleaning table and on the decks in the evening. We hope to make it a good experience for everyone so that they will remember us and want to come back either for a charter, to eat at Grills or just to bring out of town guests to see the fish. This is great advertisement for all of us. However, it could quickly turn to bad advertisement if problem situations are not handled correctly. Please keep this in mind.
FISH SCALE
We partnered with the FSFA to maintain the digital scale and become an Official IGFA Weigh Station. The IGFA World Record Game Fishes Book available for anyone who is interested. If the scale is not hanging, all you need to do is ask.
ON THE DOCKS
The Port Authority are enforcing the security rules on the docks. Remember that these rules come down from FDLE (Florida Department of Law Enforcement). If you are on the docks at night without a security badge you will be ask to leave by the Port Security.
FISHING FORECAST
Spring is here and it is
“TIME TO GO FISHING!”
COBIA MADNESS: Sunrise Marina is sponsoring a Cobia Tournament for the Month of March. Come by the Marina to see the Leader Board.
Cobia are coming. We have seen a few on the fish hang board in February. The month of March off Port Canaveral can be your Cobia Heaven. Look for surface temperature of 69 to 70 degrees. These incredible fish can be found free swimming or circling large bait pods between Canaveral and Patrick AFB.
Sunrise Marina has EELS (Cobia Candy) in stock now. Get them while their hot!
Bottom fishing has been outstanding recently and should continue through March. The 27 fathom reefs and deeper can see large congregations of grey grouper and red snapper.
GRILLS
The season is upon us! We are gearing up for the beautiful weather, great food, good music and lots of fun!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Thank you again for your patronage.
Good fishing!

MARINA STORE
We are staying on top of the sardines and trying different brands. What we have are the best that can be found at this time. Like last year, we do have cigar minnows and we are carrying other frozen bait, such as goggle eyes and thread herring to offer you as much variety as possible. We are also carrying different sizes of squid including jumbo and rigged. If you want something special, please talk with Bonnie, she will be glad to order anything for you. Please plan ahead and allow 7 to 10 days due to order and delivery days from the suppliers.
Parking (AGAIN)
DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CARS PARKED INSIDE THE BAY UNLESS YOU ARE AT YOUR BOAT. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE WAITING TO GET THEIR BOATS PUT IN OR SET ON THEIR RACK, OR WE MAY NEED TO PUT BOATS AWAY SO THAT WE CAN ACCOMMODATE THE NEXT BOAT TO COME OUT OF THE WATER. IT IS DIFFICULT ENOUGH WITH THE NUMBER OF CUSTOMERS AND CARS THAT WE NOW HAVE. IF I DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE CAR OR CAN NOT FIND THE OWNER, WE WILL CALL THE TOWING COMPANY. THE COST WILL BE BILLED TO YOU ONCE THE COMPANY HAS BEEN CALLED.
GRILLS
Have you been to Grills lately? The new windscreens are great. With the windscreens and the patio heaters, the Tiki Bar is downright cozy on the cooler nights. Check it out!
As always, Grills offers the freshest fish in town and great steaks too! (One of my favorites) Don’t forget to save room for dessert; you will be happy you did!
FISHING FORECAST
Cobia: Get ready, you know they are coming. A lot of shorts have been spotted. The marina carries all of your favorite Cobia Jigs.
Off Shore: Bottom fishing can be awesome! Large numbers of grouper, snapper and cobia can be expected either on the inshore waters or perhaps even early spawn of grouper on 27 fathoms. Surprisingly enough, February can be one of our best months for wahoo. When the conditions get right (calm seas and warm days) wahoo will congregate in large numbers on 27 fathoms. Ballyhoo behind sea-witches or high speed lures will produce the best results.
In the Port: Fishing can be excellent for flounder, bluefish, weakfish and possibly even a pompano
River: The dead of winter generally means steady action with trout and redfish. If the water is near or above the 70 degree mark, look for trout and reds to be frequenting shallow water habitats such as grass flats, mangrove shorelines and shallow docks, especially late in the day. If the water is in the lower 60s, look for small and medium sized trout in deeper water. When the water temperatures are falling the fish are seeking areas where they can be comfortable. For this reason cold weather often moves the fish to deep water holes, canals, or to areas characterized by warm water discharges such as occur at power plants.
Beach: The Pompano are biting. I have reports that Pompano are being caught off the beach, the Jetty and the Pier. Spots are being found off the beach. If you can catch the spots, use them for the snook.
Remember: Snook season opens February 1st!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Hope everyone has had a good start to the New Year. Hopefully this spring brings the best of what we all love: great weather & great fishing. We are looking forward to a great year and are as always grateful for your support.

Clarification on Grouper Regulations for South Atlantic Federal Waters
On December 19, 2008, NOAA Fisheries Service notified the South Atlantic Fishery Management Council (South Atlantic Council) of its decision not to implement an interim rule proposed to address overfishing of South Atlantic gag, red grouper, and black grouper. Therefore, the current South Atlantic grouper regulations remain unchanged. The South Atlantic Council intended for the interim rule to be in effect January 1, 2009, until replaced by long term measures proposed through Amendment 16 to the Snapper-Grouper Fishery Management Plan (Amendment 16). Procedural requirements delayed the potential publication of this interim rule substantially beyond the requested effective date of January 1, 2009.
NOAA Fisheries Service determined the limited
conservation benefits gained by implementing the South Atlantic interim rule behind schedule do not justify the costs fishermen would incur while awaiting a final decision on the rule. The Council’s long-term plan for addressing overfishing and protecting spawning grouper species in Amendment 16 is undergoing Secretarial review. A notice will publish in the Federal Register this week announcing the opportunity for public comment on Amendment 16.
Please contact NOAA Fisheries Service Office of
Sustainable Fisheries for a copy of Amendment 16 or for information on how to comment on the amendment and associated rule during the review process at:
NOAA Fisheries Service
Southeast Regional Office
Sustainable Fisheries Division
263 13th Avenue South
St. Petersburg, Florida, 33701
FAX: 727-824-5308; Phone: 727-824-5305
FISHING FORECAST
JANUARY IS HERE!! Bottom fishing will be at its peak when conditions allow. Look for large numbers of grouper, snapper and cobia to invade the wrecks and reefs in the 70 - 140 ft. depths. King mackerel will also continue to be concentrated on Pelican Flats when water conditions are favorable. Blackfin Tuna are very good if you can find the rock shrimp boats working 160 - 180 ft. depths. Harbor fishing should be excellent for bluefish, weakfish (sea trout) and Pompano as the water temperature drops. The buoy line can still hold cobia and tripletail if the water temperature doesn't drop too low. Please let us know of any exceptional catches so that we can mention it in the next newsletter. As always, feel free to call for any fishing updates or weather reports!
NEW YEARS AT GRILLS
Avoid the crowded, smoke filled, stuffy, typical New Years Night. Enjoy why we live in Florida. (Waterside, casual and outdoors)!
We will have live entertainment, champagne, and a lot of those goofy hats and noise makers. Best of all--- NO COVER CHARGE!
Robin and the entire crew!
***Where ever your plans take you on New Years Eve, please remember to be safe!

ENOUGH ALREADY!
Ok, enough already! High fuel prices, a storm in August, September wasn’t great and October has definitely been a blow out! So, what will November bring? People, fishing, I’ll take anything at this point! Mother Nature has certainly been in a foul mood!
Take heart. This bad weather can’t continue, can it?
Fuel prices are dropping and if we are lucky they will continue to drop or at least hold steady. The drop in fuel prices alone is enough to make you want to go out and celebrate. Now that you have all that extra money you won’t have to spend on gas, let’s go fishing!
GROUPER AMENDMENT 16
For those of you who don’t know……………. Amendment 16 will close Grouper season from January through April and bag limits will be reduced from 5 to 3 (January 1st, 2009). With this being said, November and December can be great bottom fishing. That’s assuming that Mother Nature decides to be kind to us.
NEW HOURS
Winter Store Hours starting September 29th: 7 Days a Week: 6 am to 9 pm.
Due to limited daylight hours, our forklift hours will be from 6 am - 6 pm. Please be sure to be at the dock no later than 6 pm as it makes it very difficult to put your boat away safely. If for some reason you are running late, please be sure to call the marina on VHF ch.16 so we know that you are okay.
I would like to remind everyone that this is the transient season and our docks will be reserved most nights. If you are a rack storage customer and you are coming in late, please let the marina know so that arrangements can be made of where you need to park your boat.
FISHING FORECAST
November can be the start of the bottom fishing bonanza! Grouper, Snapper and Cobia near the end of the month. Cobia will start to invade the wrecks and reefs off of our coast. November also kicks off our winter run of Kingfish for those who prefer to troll. Wahoo and Sailfish can be found in good concentrations as well. Around the shrimp boats, the Blackfin Tuna can be tricked by either chumming or trolling. Inshore, Snook will be red hot until the water cools below 72 degrees. Flounder and Bluefish still remain strong.
GRILLS
The high winds and seas have kept us from going fishing, however, we have had some perfect days for relaxing at the Tiki Bar. This is a great time to enjoy the beautiful weather, a great fish sandwich and your favorite beverage. Stop by and say hello to your favorite bartenders and wait staff.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Robin and the Sunrise Crew!

F.Y.I.
Summer is coming to an end. September is always the month that it hits home. The kids go back to school, vacationers go back home and the snow birds aren’t here yet.
We know it is coming every year and still we are disappointed when it gets here. For all of us, September is maintenance time. Time to clean up and put on a fresh face after a hectic summer.
FISHING FORECAST
BLACKFIN TUNA!! (Maybe!) Throughout September and October, large numbers of these spectacular black and gold Game fish can be found, usually in the vicinity of anchored rock shrimp boats. The problem is that there just aren’t enough rock shrimp to keep the fleet here very long. If you do happen to see a shrimp boat anchored in 140 to 180 feet of water check it out, It can be a bonanza! Be on the look out for sails and Wahoo as well.
Grills
Who wants to sit in a stuffy bar to watch your favorite team play. For the football fans, Grills now has a large screen TV inside the restaurant and for Monday night football we have permanently mounted the projection screen in the tiki bar area. What more could you ask for….football, cold beer, great food and atmosphere! You got to love it, where else but Grills?!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Thanks again for the great summer! With a little help from Mother Nature, some clean water, good weather and booked Charters, I hope we all have an awesome fall.
Safe boating and fishing!

F.Y.I.
Most of us got a little reminder of what tropical storms are like yesterday. It was a busy day here at the marina keeping an eye on docks and dock lines as Fay made a sluggish path toward the east coast. The sustained winds kept everyone hopping and re-securing lines.
Please remember that hurricane season is not over until November 30th. Make sure we have all your current phone numbers on file including your work number and be ready to remove all loose items from your vessel, including canvas. If we need to get ready for a hurricane, all help is appreciated in securing all the vessels.
I recommend that you have plenty of line ready just in case.
MARINA
As I am writing this a lot of you are getting ready to finish off this tournament season with the Canaveral Mac Attack. This two day tournament and Labor Day weekend will finish our season off with a bang. Then it’s time to take care of maintenance. Boats, motors, rods and tackle……..lots to be done.
We only charge 10% over cost on any items that we special order. We will be glad to help you with that hard to find item.
FISHING FORECAST
Blackfin Tuna will become one of the main focuses in September with anglers scoring catches behind shrimp boats in 120 to 180 feet of water. Chumming with Spanish sardines, will reward those who are able to trick these crafty fish. Always keep an open eye for species such as Cobia, Dolphin or Wahoo, which often come up for a meal.
If the pogies are around through the fall, those live baiting over reefs and wrecks can continue to look forward to catching Kings and Cobia with an occasional Dolphin, Sailfish or Wahoo mixed in.
With any luck, bottom fishing will pick up with the disappearance of cold, dirty water that often blankets the bottom during summer months.
September 1st is the long anticipated date for Snook anglers. Expect excellent catches around lighted structures at night in the port and in the surf at daybreak.
GRILLS Seafood Deck & Tiki Bar
It’s been another crazy season at Grills. For those of you who can’t handle the wait, it is a much slower time of year for the next couple of months. So check it out …breakfast, lunch or dinner. We’d like to thank everyone for the incredible support and word of mouth advertising!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Well, that was a fast summer! Hope everyone had a chance to make the most of it. Fall can provide some fantastic fishing so don’t put the gear away yet. Thanks for your business..

Ocean Obsession II
Are you tired of cleaning your boat and tackle after a long hot day of fishing? Wouldn’t it be nice to let someone else fuel up the boat, get it ready and do all the cleaning when you’re done? Do you dream of kicking back, drinking a cold beverage while someone else cleans the fish?
Well, we here at Sunrise Marina have the answer for you. Take a ride on the Ocean Obsession II. Fishing has picked back up and I can tell you from experience, a ride on the party boat is a relaxing fun day. Between the mates and the other passengers there is always entertainment to keep you smiling and you can catch fish too.
The OOII as we call it, does full day fishing trips, leaving the dock at 8 am and returning at 5 pm. You can purchase a meal ticket for a full breakfast and lunch or bring your own cooler.
We also offer night time shark trips on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Another great way to enjoy letting someone else do the work. Not to mention OOII has a cool new T-shirt to commemorate the Shark Trip. Looking for something to do with the kids before they go back to school? This is the trip and they will love the T- Shirt.
FYI
DITTO... Our tropical storm season has been extremely quiet but please remember, that can change very quickly. Please have an evacuation plan ready as the Port Authority will require all vessels to leave the Port at 36 hours from a possible strike.
FISHING FORECAST
For the divers, Lobster season starts August 6th.
As you well know, SMOKERS ARE HERE!! August is prime-time for these large, hungry, aerobatic kings, termed, SMOKERS (term derived from cooking process, not necessarily what they do to a reel!!) The key to success is netting live menhaden (pogies), a feat sometimes much more difficult than catching the kings. That’s part of the whole fishing experience (RIGHT?).
Elsewhere, trolling offshore can be very sporadic with a mixture of sail, dolphin, and wahoo still possible.
Bottom fishing will range from good to terrible depending on the bottom water temperature which can plummet to the 40's for a brief time. Inshore, tripletail, tarpon, snook and flounder will continue to be good.
GRILLS Seafood Deck and Tiki Bar
As usual Grills is hopping with entertainment and fun. After you get the fish and boat cleaned, stop by, say hello, have a drink, relax and enjoy.
HAPPY ENDINGS
See you on the docks!
Robin, and the rest of the Crew!

With a windy May behind us, June has been a great month of fishing. The Sunrise Fleet, amateurs and pros have all been bringing in the fish. You name the species we have seen them in June!
Tarpon have been spotted on the beach this last week, as well as some nice catches of King.
Inshore action will include flounder, tripletail, and tarpon near the beaches.

ETHANOL AND BIODIESEL
As if the price of fuel wasn’t enough to make us worry, now they are adding another factor to our fuel purchases, E10 Unleaded and BioDiesel.
E10, is a gasoline blended with up to 10 % ethanol alcohol and is now in widespread use in the U.S. Biodiesel is an organic based product.
We have received several calls concerning ethanol in our fuel tanks. WE DO NOT HAVE E10 (ETHANOL GAS) IN OUR TANKS OR BIO DIESEL.
We have been diligent in not purchasing fuel with these additives and plan to keep our tanks free. We have spoken to several suppliers and are being told that by the time the gas supply without ethanol runs out, they will be producing a marine grade fuel that does not contain ethanol.
You can get plenty of information on line concerning biodiesel and E10 Unleaded.
You should also discuss the affects of using either with your mechanic.
RACK STORAGE CUSTOMERS
Please be considerate of the vessels stored below your boat. Flaking bottom paint may stain vinyl seating, fuel and oil in your bilge or dripping from your out drive may cause damage to gelcoat, vinyl or canvas. You are responsible for your vessel and any damage that you may cause. PLEASE ALSO BE CONSIDERATE WHEN WASHING DOWN YOUR BOAT AND WASHING DEBRI AND SALTWATER ONTO THE BOATS BESIDE OF YOU.
F.Y.I
Please remember to be courteous when using the fish cleaning table and coming into the fuel docks. I realize that everyone is anxious to get the job done at the end of your long days. Please do not hang out at the fuel dock, causing others to wait for fuel while you are cleaning fish. YOU MUST LEAVE SOMEONE ON YOUR VESSEL THAT IS CAPABLE OF MOVING THE BOAT.
HURRICANE PREPARATION
It’s that time of year again! Are you ready? Please make your plans early, do not wait until a hurricane is imminent.
Rack Storage Customers. When you are done using your boat each trip, please move any and all loose lightweight articles to an enclosed hold in your vessel. This will save time when we are preparing for Hurricanes. With so many boats in the rack storage system, it may not be possible to bring all boats down so that you may get ready when a hurricane is predicted. Coolers, Ladders, Canvas, Fenders, etc…
If you wish to remove your boat and take it home. Please do not wait until the last minute to do this as we will be hauling boats and pulling docks in preparation. The port will shut down all entrance at some point, if the hurricane is imminent.
Wet Storage Customers. Please make your arrangements early. If you would like to haul your vessel, please let the marina know so that we can put you on the list and make sure that we have plenty of blocking stands available. If you are moving your boat elsewhere, please make your arrangements early so that you are assured of a spot.
FISHING FORECAST
Warming water in the Lagoon, means jacks and ladyfish become active. Trout are active all year with summer providing the most aggressive fish. Snook is now out of season, so we hope you had your chance to get them while they were hot!
Offshore…….If you’ve ever dreamt of catching a sailfish, June is one of the better months to make that dream a reality. Along with those sailfish, other trolling species can fill your fish box, such as wahoo and dolphin, although the dolphin fishing can tend to slow up a little bit. Bottom fishing can be good; however, it all depends on the water temperature. As for inshore fishing, Triple tail can still be spotted around buoys and soon, tarpon should surface just off the beaches. Also, live baiting for smoker kingfish isn’t too far Away.
HAPPY ENDINGS
Summer is in full swing! The Tiki Bar is Rockin! Grills is turning out incredible seafood! and Sunrise Marina has everything you need for a great day of fishing! What else is there!

FYI
TWIC BADGE
What is TWIC? TWIC is a common identification credential for personnel requiring unescorted access to secure areas of regulated facilities. Additionally, TWIC’s are required for all mariners holding Coast Guard issued credentials such as licenses and/or merchant mariners documents. This includes uninspected passenger vessels, also known as “6-Pack” operators.
I am told that they will start enforcement around Sept 25th but that the Coast Guard has the option to move this date up if they see that no one is enrolling.
Individuals required to have a TWIC are strongly recommended to pre-enroll at www.tsa.gov/twic or by telephone at 866-DHS-TWIC to minimize the time needed for processing at the enrollment center.
The fee is $132.50.
If you do not enroll and get your TWIC card, the next time your Captains License come up for renewal they will not renew your license.
If you need any other information concerning the TWIC card please let me know and I will do my best to help.
GROUPER FISHING
The South Atlantic Fishery Management Coucil has proposed to close all Grouper fishing from January thru April. Another alternative would add December to the closure period. Under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Reauthorization Act, the Council must end overfishing within a one year period once overfishing is identified.
There is a public hearing being held in Port Canaveral on May 9th. Location and time is TBD. Your input is needed. For more detailed information and updates concerning this ruling you may go to http://www.nmfs.noaa.gov or contact the marina.
FISHING FORECAST
Hopefully the Cobia will still be around when this wind stops blowing.
We have an added benefit this spring, the Canaveral Bight is open. The Canaveral Bight has been closed to the public for almost six years. The area now is closed only during space shuttle and rocket launches.
HAPPY ENDINGS

WEBSITE
Have you looked at our website lately? For those of you in the rack storage we have added a “Trip Services” button underneath the web cam. In an effort to make your fishing trip a little more relaxing we have added services to help you get ready before you go fishing and to take some of the work out of cleaning up the boat when you get back from a hard day of fishing.
MARINA STORE
Coming Soon (Hopefully): Live eels (Cobia Candy) to entice the often finicky free swimmers soon to invade our coastal waters. As you all know, we were not able to get any eels last year. We will find out soon if we can get them this year.
FISHING FORECAST
Beach: The Pompano and Snook are biting. I have reports that 25 to 30 pound Snook are being caught in the surf. Their have been some decent drums around Jefferson St. Also a lot of spots in the surf., if you can catch the spots, use them for the snook. Fishing has been spotty, surf is dirty.
Remember: Snook season opens February 1st!
GRILLS
As always, Grills offers the freshest fish in town and great steaks too! (One of my favorites) Don’t forget to save room for dessert; you will be happy you did!
HAPPY ENDINGS
Hope everyone has had a good start to the new year. Hopefully this spring brings the best of what we all love: great weather & great fishing. We are looking forward to a great year and are as always grateful for your support.

F.Y.I
In case you have not heard, the Port is tightening up the security at the waterside. Please be sure to keep your photo ID on you at all times you are on the dock. Also, make sure that your charter passengers have an ID with them before they board your vessel. Not having an ID on you could add some aggravation to your day. The security,
(Coast Guard and FWC) will force you to leave the docks if you do not have ID.
HAPPY ENDINGS
A special thanks again to all of our customers. We are very grateful for your support, and we will continue trying to earn it!

CHRISTMAS IDEAS
It's not just the very young with a long list of things that'd make this Christmas the best ever. Even crusty ole’ fisherman yearn to feel like a kid again and receive the toy that they have been dreaming of all year. We wanted to help you by drafting a letter to Santa to get you started………
Dear Captain Santa,
I have been a good fisherman this year. I have brushed my teeth three times daily, I have released fish that I wanted to keep and I have spoken kindly to all of the tourists asking questions while I am cleaning my fish. I have tried to be really good by helping as many people as possible, giving good fishing reports and ALMOST correct locations of the great fishing spots. I have been tolerant of my fellow man even when they run over my lines (most of the time).
So I thought you may have something a little extra for me this year! Not that I expect all of it, you understand, just a few items on my wish list would be a real treat and help many of my friends, family and customers have an exceptional fishing trip next year.
• Penn 113HLW reel, for a great fishing trip in 2008. Come to think of it, I’d like a set of 4 and 4 new Crowder Rods to go with.
• Captain Seagulls Nautical Chart, so I can find all those great fishing spots I keep hearing about.
• Gift Certificate from Sunrise Marina, for when my cheap friends go fishing with me, I can buy all the bait and not have to worry about spending all my lunch money for the next month.
• Sunrise Marina and a Grills T-Shirt, because I want to show off when I’m on vacation (“Oh yeah, this is where I live and what I get to do every day of my life. What do you do? Shovel snow in the winter and chop wood in the summer to get ready for winter?).
• A set of Grills new Coffee Mugs, wouldn’t that be great to have when my friends come over or Sunrise Marina Travel Mugs would be handy when I’m leaving the house early so I can get on the water and start fishing.
• A gift certificate from Grills, to take those cheap friends for dinner and drinks after a long day of fishing.
• Hydro-Glow Fish Light would be great for my swordfishing trips next year.
• Oh, and a couple hundred gallons of fuel would be nice too.
I don’t want you to get frustrated over what to put in my stocking, so Sunrise Marina has a great selection of Troy Perez bottom fishing and cobia jigs as well as many trolling lures. Then there are those great little beacon lights, Sunrise has those in stock too. A cool “Salt Life” sticker for
my car window and Grills Marinade would be nice in my stocking so I can grill up that fish I catch with my friends this year.
This was supposed to be a short wish list. I guess like my fishing stories, there is nothing short about my wish list either. Please remember Captain Santa I really was a good fisherman this year. If you feel so inclined to provide some of the booty on my list, you too may be rewarded with a little fresh fish under your tree. Love, Your Crusty Ole’ Fisherman
NEW HOURS
With daylight savings time upon us, its time to change to our Winter Store Hours starting October 29th: 7 Days a Week: 6 am to 9 pm.
Grouper, Snapper and, near the end of the month.
